FIA ERC RALLY POLAND IN STATE OF MOURNING AFTER DORETTO’S TRAGIC DEATH

The 2025 Rally of Poland, scheduled from June 13 to 15 on the challenging gravel roads of the Masurian Lakes, opens in an atmosphere of profound sadness.
Matteo Doretto, a rising star of Italian motorsport, tragically lost his life yesterday in an accident.

"His loss is a tragedy that deeply saddens us," said Terenzio Testoni, Pirelli Rally Activity Manager. “On behalf of Pirelli, I would like to extend our most heartfelt and sincere condolences to his family and friends.”

On the sporting front, the Polish round is the second-oldest rally competition in Europe, now in its 81st edition. Sixty-three crews are set to take the start, including Jon Armstrong in a Pirelli-equipped Ford Fiesta, as well as Jos Verstappen and Andrea Mabellini, both driving Skoda Fabias on Pirelli tyres.

This year’s event features 14 special stages, totalling 190.40 timed kilometres. While much of the route has been updated, Rally Poland maintains its traditional challenges, namely uneven and often sandy roads on which it is hard to find grip.

“It’s a very difficult and high speed rally, where attention to detail is very important. With every car passage the terrain gets rougher, forming deep ruts that can challenge even the most experienced drivers” commented Terenzio Testoni. “At the moment, the forecast is for dry weather, but on rallies like this one cannot take anything for granted.”

Pirelli drivers will be able to use three versions of the Scorpion gravel tyre range: the K4A hard, the K6A soft, the prime tyre for this event and the K8B supersoft. As per the regulations, each crew can use a total of 16 tyres, including those chosen for qualifying.

Rally Poland is also the third round of this season’s ERC Fiesta Rally3 trophy, for which Pirelli is the sole supplier. The Trophy cars will run the Scorpion 175/70-15 K4 hard and K6 soft.
