HOW TO TELL THE FIVE COMPOUNDS APART IN TESTING

“The second test was again very productive, albeit affected by some rain and wind yesterday, which reshaped the programmes slightly and reset the track to some extent. That’s probably why some of the times weren’t as fast as they were before, but there was still plenty of running. From our point of view it was a smooth three days with no issues at all and there was also the opportunity to compare the standard C2 tyre with a new construction at the front for the banked corner at Zandvoort, which will place a lot of demand on the front of the car. The new construction is stiffer, while we also ran the standard C2 front tyre with the pressure raised by 2PSI, specifically for Zandvoort. We had good feedback from both concepts, so we’ll evaluate which works best once we have more track data from there. In terms of performance gaps, we saw about 0.45 seconds between C5 and C4, 0.3 seconds between C4 and C3, and approximately 0.45 seconds between C3 and C2, with this final gap being a little more than we expected here. Preparations for Australia are now complete, and after six days of testing everyone is looking forward to getting back to some racing again”.
